Abraham Lincoln was born on Sinking Springs Farm near Hodgenville, Kentucky, United States on February 12, 1807.  He had very little formal education in his childhood, but had a strong interest in books and learning. Most of what which he learned was self-education from books. As a young boy he worked in the variety of jobs such as shopkeeper, surveyor and postmaster.

On November 6, 1860, Lincoln was elected as the 16th President of the United States. While he was president he set up a national banking system and also established the Department of agriculture. He was shot by john Wilkes Booth at the Ford’s Theater on April 14, 1865.
